Mascoutah, Illinois | My best guess is we would have been sharply lower today after yesterday's price action heading into the close in grains. Today's price action has caught my attention. One noticeable thing which stood out in yesterday's Crop Condition Report was the ratings in corn. We had 71% of the acres reported as "excellent or very good." However, in the "poor to very poor" camp we shot up to 10%. It was a significant increase considering the 10% number this week was 8% the previous week. The hardest hit areas in corn are North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Missouri.
