Subject: cash rent conversation

I was visiting with a buddy of mine last night. I asked him how things were going. He mentioned he rented some more land...about 350 acres in three different locations. He said he visited with the guys one morning and had it rented by noon. He made his bid high because he said he was tired of missing out on renting new ground.

Maybe there is no logic anymore with cash rent. I work pretty hard on spread sheets, costs, etc... and I am not seeing the reasoning in adding acres for no or fractional profit. Am I old fashioned or what?

The grain markets better jump pretty nicely and the operator better be ready to pull the trigger if the market gives a respectable price.

With all of the talk of higher interest and inflation are many producers looking for expansion acres or are ya'll happy with the acres you are presently running over?

Any thoughts...
