This is exactly what I have said on here is occuring. The big banks are upside down on their balance sheets. The fed is allowing them to borrow money virtually interest free at the fed funds rate. They invest it in the stock and commodity markets in the HOPE that they can make enough money to climb out of the problem in 3-4 years.
