Jewell County KS | Neighbor had a piece of grass with a little alfalfa sprinkled throughout (26 acres) that I have been putting up on shares for several years split 50/50. They mentioned yesterday that may need all the hay for their cows this year and are wanting me to put it up for custom rate.
Most years I can cut it twice but many times some of it is not worth swathing and I just skip that spot. I have gotten around 32 bales on a good year and 6 or 8 on bad year. This will be a bad year I am afraid.
Swath, rake and round bale and stack in field.
How would you charge? By the acre? By the hour? By the bale?
