Subject: JD vac planter on Magnum...again!

S/W Ontario
Is the 4 inch square bloc just ahead of the hyd coupler what contains the needle valve to controll flow to the vac motor? I understand it's limited to 5gpm. Is that to protect the seals, etc. in the hyd motor? Can I remove the block and control the flow from the tractor? Another thing , someone on here mentioned about enlarging the port in the needle valve. Is all this suggested to avoid undue pressure and heat in the Magnum hyd system? I run e-sets in my 1780 planter, when I've turned around on the end I stop to lower the planter then when I start up again the rpm's drop enough that the pressure drops to 5 lbs and I'm worried I may be loosing the seed. JohnW, Redwrench, jedeka and some others have given very helpful advice. Do you mind sharing some more of your expertise? Thank-you.
