Subject: Grain carts and loading on gravel roads (Iowa)

Leesport, PA
We are looking at new(er) grain carts and one issue that has been brought to our attention is the difficulty in loading trucks on gravel roads (in Iowa). It seems that the roads are not wide enough to get the carts far enough away from the trucks?

Gentlmen who was telling us about the problem had a 1,000 bushel Brent corner auger. Do all the brands have this problem? How big of a cart can you get before this width becomes an issue?

On the lot, the 1,000 bushel J&M was nearly 2 .5 foot narrower than the Brent (1082) but also about $3500 more expensive.

We were looking mainly at Brent carts as they seem to be the most popular in our area. Is there other brands we should consider? If so why?

Thanks for your input.

Ryan
