Subject: Ok, so now what??

Need some opinions from those with experience.

Ok, we're 35 days post seeding on the sorghum/sudangrass project. It has reached a height of 50", measured to the top of the curve on the highest leaf. All the info I could find tells me that height corresponds with the optimum level of protein/tonnage/low ndf in the plant.

So, I cut it on Saturday morning, did a pretty good job of splitting the stems open and crimping them with the conditioner, hoping to round bale it this week.

Checked it today and found what I kinda expected. Top is cured, underneath still found green leaves, and the stems still have some juice. Definately not close to baling today.

What to do, what to do..... run a tedder through it, rake it in single windrows and turn it a couple days in a row (I can get my hands on an inverter pretty quick), leave it for a couple days and hope it doesn't rain?

Anyone with experience with this crop have some advice???

I'll post some pics of the project when I get them resized.

Dave
