Subject: Any research on spraying boarders for aphids?

Anyone know of any research as to whether this is a good idea?

I think I might try making one pass (45') around all my bean fields with a very high rate (maybe 2-3 times the standard rate) of insecticide to kill aphids in soybeans. My logic is that aphids must pass through this "moat" to get deeper into the fields but the high rate will kill them before they get too far and I won't make many tracks.

My other option is to hire an overpriced custom guy with 80' booms.

I was wondering if the "moat" idea was any good. Looking for an easyway out I guess :)
