Camrose, Alberta | My winter wheat is getting close to flag leaf and I'm wondering if anyone else have been checking their's for leaf and stem rust. Last year it hit me hard, I lost quite a few leaves. A pathologist told me that if I plan to grow winter wheat to plan on spraying it for rust. I understand that the rust overwinters in Mexico and Texas, then moves north on winds. We have had more south winds than usual this spring, if that makes much of a difference. I have been a little too busy spraying herbicides to check for disease lately, but plan to tommorow. Just wondering what others are seeing. | |
