NW Iowa-Lyon | I went out to check on the girls and give them a little grain because the girls are less than a week from lambing and found her dead in the barn. Walked in there to see if there was any physical signs of maybe what could of happened but could not see anything. She was still warm so I cut her open to see if the lambs were still alive and I would just have to take care of a couple premies. They were also dead. The twin lambs looked like they were in good shape nice 8-10 pounders. She was eating hay in the morning and at noon when I checked them she was laying there chewing her chud. So, what could have happened between noon to 4:30???? I am new to sheep and am second guessing myself this whole year on whether I am doing everything right or am in for a big headache. I bought these ewes back in Feb. bred and have lambed them out once but they were less than 4 weeks from lambing then. | |
