| Just got home from a long weekend of Reno air races. To show how my luck goes, this is the first time in the 47 year history of the races that the Unlimited Gold race has been canceled. The wind was blowing crazy and the T-6's balked, then there was a bad crash in the SuperSport race, so they decided not to run the unlimiteds. It was still awesome and we got to see a lot of good racing in the heat races Friday and Saturday. If you like aviation, put this on your to do list. I've been to Oshkosh and several other big shows but Reno is way cooler. We bought pit passes and walked around the pit areas in the evening while the crews were working on planes and most any of them would talk to you and were very laid back. I can't describe what it was like when Rare Bear and Strega came by at close to 500 mph. Awesome. | |
