Subject: Implement tires weather cracks and soil?

east central ND
What is in the soil that causes a farm implement tire to rot/crack/degrade? Is it acid dirt? Couple of older, but not ancient implement tires out in my grass machine lot have more and larger cracks/weather checking where they have been touching the dirt. These haven’t moved in a couple years, but doing some rearranging and mowing I noticed this. This seems odd as I would expect the UV rays from the sun to cause more problems.

I was looking at a 10 year old disc the other day, and seen the tires had areas of cracking started that would be the contact patch of the ground when parked. Any ideas?

I started counting how many tires are on my farm. Most of them older. That was just depressing.
