South-central Nebraska | I don't know if I will have to go this route but am just trying to get some ideas. With the corn on corn I currently have I ridge till it. Plant it, ridge it with a hiller one time around knee high, then flail shred it after harvest. A strip till unit would save me one trip but would have a high initial equipment cost and with ridges the row rarely gets covered with wind blown residue. Plus it is warmer and drains due to being higher up. But, if I were to try strip till on irrigated corn on corn which unit should I look at and why? I plant with a 16 row planter and have RTK (Greenstar) on my tractor already. I may be limited to strip tilling in the spring.
To be honest I hope soybean income per acre can compete with corn and I can go 100% no-till on a 50/50 rotation!!!!!!!! | |
