Subject: RE: cat 65 steering oil temp

ed, it does not heat up while sitting still. one thing i noticed is that it takes alot longer to cool down sitting at the end of the field than it used to. used to cool down from in the red to halfway in the green in a couple of minutes. now it takes 20 minutes or more. but when you drive it down the road it cools down pretty quickly. wondering if its a airflow problem with the cooler ( not plugged, just not enough air through it) have heard of guys putting on a electric fan on the cooler to push more air through it. probably just masking the real problem but like i said it has always ran really warm since we bought it with 500 hours in 1991( tractors a 1988). do remember cat saying back then that the early ones had problems with steering oil temp. do the B,C or D models have bigger coolers on them?
