Subject: Re: cat 65 steering oil temp

We had one and it would heat on real hot days, and if there was a lot of turning. But otherwise it did not give us much trouble. If I remember correctly, the steering reservior had a capacity of somewhere around 9 gallons. You may try and change the oil and filter before you call for service. I have found with Cat service, that it is expensive, but not any worse than anyone else, and our dealer has very competent help that has been with them for a longer period of time and has good knowledge of the unit. I feel it is penny wise and pound foolish not to have a good tech on something, as it costs more than his wages when that outfit is sitting people I am paying, along with myself are devoting time to an unproductive machine, let alone delayed field work.
