Chebanse, IL.....

Here's my 2 cts.

We don't have Fords....but like Kelly & a few others, I'd ask you if you've already leaned on the service mgr to lean on the zone guy to "do something". Even though it may be out of warranty by year-model, 30,000 mis is very low mileage for that kind of failure on that type of engine/accessory. I guess I could see an alternator or starter failure. Personally I think the only abuse one can inflict on a turbo is consistent hot shutdowns from heavy pulls. I doubt that happens in a pickup truck. I believe Ford uses wastegate system....is that correct?

We'll assume that the engine/drivetrain is still in it's stock configuration? If not-someone else might be involved.

Another year & a few more mis, I'd probably expect to eat the turbo 100% too....but they sure ought to make some kind of offer at this point. Of course, you'll want to ask about further warranty of the replacement turbo.

Personally-with that low of mileage and recent year-model, I wouldn't go for after-market yet. You may save a couple hundred $$, but it may haunt you down the road. Oil sample can sometimes be PIA also. They take a while. Taking them on a dead engine is also questionable practice. Some contaminants settle, some don't.

In any case....would you report back on outcome. Seems we often don't hear the outcome of these matters.
