I guess you know that you can just change the center section of the turbo. I had a turbo blow a seal on the exhaust side one time and ford wanted something like $1700. After talking to a few local mechanics, I found a place in MO that sold complete turbos or just the center section. Cost was $625 for the center, and about a hour of my time. Worked great and never had any problems.
