Subject: Re: powerstroke turbo failed

Martinsville, Ohio
Good advice. I once sold turbo's and believe me you can buy one for a fraction of the quoted price. I personally have never seen a turbo failure on that engine, one of the stoutest parts of that setup in my experience. I ran one 200,000 miles and the turbo was just starting to get a good zing to it.

I would check metal contamination also and would have the oil tested, bet something has caused the failure.

There isn't a Ford shop I know of in these parts I would even let touch that engine. I have a private mechanic who has worked on more Navistar's that any of those kids have seen and the shops are usually full of kids around here, they won't pay to keep the good mechanics. I quit using dealer shops in the 80's and won't go back. Too much hassle, no troubleshooting skills, they just keep adding parts until they find the problem if they ever find the problem at all.

I would don't care for Fords but sure would be interested in a truck like that with its problem if I could find one..
