This is for working fairly heavy black soil before spring planting. The norm in my area is dmi or similar field cultivator. I have been using a soil finisher and in the a lot of conditions it does a beautiful job, but I've noticed the field cultivator seems to deal with more variable conditions better. I'm looking really hard at a dmi, but this sunflower came up and it seemed like an interesting choice - good clearance, less maintanance (no loose shanks). The dealer said the S tine is basically the same as a spring shank for pressure, but it's cheaper to replace when broken by a rock.
