| I have a couple government bins and a machine shed made of the galvazed sheet metal of years ago that are showing their age. Rust is becoming very obvious. I know the bins aren't worth much but for aesthetics I want them freshly painted and the shed needs painted, both roof and sides. I want to do a quality job that will last. What is the best way to prep the surfaces without spending days with a wire brush, and still get a good surface prep and how to deal with the existing rust spots to prevent those from coming through prematurely. Is pressure washing and then using a couple coats of primer the best, still worried about the rust spots. Sandblasting would work if I could find a commercial guy to do it on the bins, but I'm afraid a sandblaster would be too hard on the shed sheetmetal. And I'm also worried about the seals on the nails for the shed roof, should I just pull all the nails out and replace with screws? Thanks for the ideas. | |
