Subject: always wondered, why a jd 4430 was different that rest of the 30-55series

Why is the muffler on the 4430 different that other jd's? I've always wondered why they were different. Is there any advantage of having it like it is? I don't really like it like it is on the 4430's. I like the looks of the muffler in the front. dunno why
