Gleaner has a kit to put a spring and shock back on the idler on the sickle driver belt that you might want to look into. We had troubles with the rubber "snubber" in the idler it would get too loose as soon as a new belt stretched a little. Your Challenger head might be the same set up. I can look for the Gleaner part number.
