Subject: RE: 750 drill vs kinze planter

I plant beans with a 11/6 Kinze planter and like the consistent seed metering and placement over the IH 5400 no-till drill I used previously. Each box holds 1.7-1.8 units so a 23 row would hold around 40 units. I back up to the seed wagon and can fill all the boxes from one position but it's a stretch. The neighbor fills a 15/8 row planter with his seed wagon from one position. He has clamped the leg from a pair of jeans to the end of his spout and can shut off the seed between boxes by sqeezing off the jeans with his hand. My problem with this is I'm not as tall and when I throw away a pair of jeans the knees are ripped out and they wouldn't hold beans. I'd think you would need to fill half of a 12 row planter and then move to fill the other half.
