I will be doing this Sat. Thing I am most worried about is just getting the thing off-I am not great with torch so I may enlist a neighbor if necessary. I did the shoe augers last year and that was a pain-and they were easily accessible! I need to get another 5 years out of this combine but like you say-some better priced corn would speed that up. :)
I wondered about possibly crawling inside and putting a punch on that bearing to knock it out but it looks like the beater may be in the way. No room for slide hammer.
You actually put in a whole new beater by yourself? Ouch. How long did that take???? Did you save the shaft?
