If it's that big of a pipeline there is little you can do to stop it. So that leaves negotiation as the only outlet for fairness. As poster below said, meet with the neighbors set a good high price plus all the other things that will fit your area. Most farmers have been through it before and know the pitfalls. The idea of picking off your neighbors one by one is an old trick to them,. Don't fall for the public good crap. If it's so good why not let you share in the profits. See if they are selling gas at a one time price. Offer to put in the line yourself, as a public service and only charge the same as them,it must be "fair".

We were going to to lose some land to emminent domian for a pipeline, we hired a test drilling for gravel, once they found out what we found and they would have to pay for the gravel within 100 feet of the line they went around us.Sad part is we ended up purchasing the other ground a few years ago and have to work with them anyway. Find out a way to add value to your ground. hard to say in fifty years just what it will be worth. Also only agree to the gas part no other lines or using this line for unintended uses without more money. Many lines that get a little old are used for wires and other things.
Get a tape recorder to use, a voice activated one, when they come to see you,ask the right questions. Might not hold up in court but will make them think twice about lying to you.

better stop, utilities make me long winded.
