In Nebraska, at least when I visited with their enforcement people some years ago at Husker Harvest Days, you can buy a temporary harvest permit which lets you haul about a load and a half, legally, so I don't quite understand how one goes about getting an overweight ticked up in those parts.

I could probably steer you toward the fine schedule for KS but I'm not going to be much help in NE since I doubt I can find the booklet they handed out, and it is probably outdated anyway.
