North Central Iowa | I agree with the 440 bushels, more or less, but I think you better talk to a DOT guy from your state and see what you can haul legally with your axle spacings and tires. It doesn't make much sense to put plates on for 450 bushels, if you'll only be able to haul 375 legally. Each state seems to be a little different, and each truck has different axle spacings. The front tire size makes a difference too.
For example, I had a Mack tandem with a 20' bed and an air tag axle. I could haul around 620 bushels if I filled it full, but if the grain was 58-60# I was overweight. With my front tires and the 3rd axle down, I could only haul 57,800# legally, but I went to the co-op over 60,000# many times. You may not mind hauling overweight, but I figure it's good to know you might be overweight before you get pulled over for it. Those tickets can get really pricey quick.
