Vern We used a vac once to clean a Shivvers bin...they have different auger system. Vac (good size) was slow compared to normal sweeps & has other downsides....I thought. Noise Dust Takes some h.p. Usually involves getting shocks from static electricity. We have a neighbor that has nice vac & still uses sweeps. Have you considered this? Buy the sweep withOUT the motor. New ones are sold by GSI & Hutchinson (maybe others). Leave the sweep IN the bin, assuming well is large enough (= new enough) but remove the motor. Dump your corn right on top. If you have stirrators, make sure you account for that. The new sweeps allow for quick mount of motors using 2 threaded 3/4" rods & single belt. We do this on several of our bins. Largest is 36'. You can get by with having only 1 motor then. I'm sure you can buy a LOT of sweeps for the price of 1 vac, not even considering the maintenance. But again, make sure you won't be blocking too much of the center well. If you have older bins withOUT intermediate wells, you can install intermediates without pulling up the whole floor also. This idea may not work for you at all.
