Bolt some milo guards to your sickle. Milo guards fit onto the ends of the sickle guards. They have rods going forward with an upward hook at the end. At the tip of the hook they each have 2 wires extending back over the sickle.

The sickle cuts the stalk, the milo guard wires prevent the head from falling off the cutterbar or into the sickle and the normal finger type reel pushes the heads into the header.
