If you have drought damaged corn in the low yielding areas sometimes the cobs are so soft and twisty it is pretty hard to get the grain off without busting them up. We run a large wire concave instead of the round bar - not saying that is the thing to do but that is what we use in this lower yielding part of the country. It is more aggerssive than the round bar.
