Subject: RE: Oil question for Canuck farmers

I have a little Yanmar tractor 15 hp that for some reason condenses alot of water in the transmission. Using UFA hy/trans I have to change every year. Using Case Hytran I can go 2 years before I see a problem with water in the oil. Hytan must have more or better additives to disperse water. My combine engine is being rebuilt right now but last harvest running UFA super 15/40 oil consumption was reasonable for a couple days then really went wild. Changing to Delo 15/40 from UFA cut oil consumption by half those last 60-70 hours before an oil change. I thought that I would find a broken ring somewhere in the engine but I'm thinking I must have got her hot enough to take the temper out of the rings. There are streaks down from the crown of the piston past the rings and down the piston skirt. All that blowby must really heat up the oil and maybe the better oils hold viscosity better? Just a thought.
