You might be on to something regarding the hyd oil for JD's. A friend was running I think it was GULF or Shell Hyd oil in his JD backhoe. The brakes were squeaking on it so he checked with JD and they told hime to switch back to JD's oil because it had a additive in it etc. On my old Case tractors I haven't noticed a differance between brands.
