Subject: RE: Question about MacDon Draper platforms?

North West Kansas

We are in NW Crawford.

In milo we cut 1,500 acres 2 years ago without any guards, if we had milo every year I would probably get some poly guards which are not that big of a deal to put on..

Transport wheels are options on MDS. But next time we will save our money and put it towards another trailer.

They do not fold to move. but they do "float" on their adaptors so that does eleviate the need for contourmaster feederhouses.

JD vs MD all I can tell you on that is JD will not cut beans, cutter bar angle is wrong and their transport gets in the way. I looked at a JD on a dealers lot and thought it looked like a good ceral head (wheat, rice, milo). But don't think it would work for a bean head.

You buy the adaptor for the machine you will put the head on. Each brand needs its own adaptor and it stays with the head. Comes off the combine just like an auger head would.

We run 2-9600's, CTS, Lexion 485.

Price?? Now that can get into things. Width, model number, options.

25' model 972 - 36' model 972 could range from $12,000 upto $30,000 (used)

30' and 36' model 974 will range in price from $25,000 upto $47,500 (new)

Those prices are with adaptors in the heads. The 972 (new model is 973)is a ridged cutterbar and it may even come in a 39' now. The 974 is what MD calls a flexdraper and the cutterbar flexs in 2 places.

An adaptor can be removed in about 30mins but it will take Hrs to reinstall and set the float.

Hope that answers your questions. If you have anymore let me know.

email me and I will send you some pictures of our 485 with a 36' Macdon.
