Subject: RE: Local JD dealer not up to par

You may own the brick, mortar and name above the door but, John Deere owns you [Dealer]. A John Deere dealer is simply an extention of Deere. Therefore, the owner of the dealer must abide by strict Deere regulation and that is made very clear to any Deere dealer owner every time a company rep walks through the door. These reps are not in the business of making suggestions or assisting, they are there to enforce that business be conducted their way! In this situation, I would say the factory rep is falling down on the job. All Deere dealers must have an up to date computer system in order to communicate with Deere's dealer operating system. It's required. Without it, the dealership cannot operate. They can't order parts, consumer goods, machinery and settle warranty claims, etc. The owner of a Deere dealer who goes agains the Deere way will find it very difficult to remain in business.
