| Too many times, farmers don't even consider this. Does he have a family? Is he full time , year round? Health insurance?Does he drive his own vehicle on the job or yours? It costs alot of money to live nowdays -30-40,000 before taxes with a family and you can't expect him to live a substandard living. I'd say 36,000 per year, plus a bonus, plus health insurance is a good start for a full time good man. Pay his utilities and for his pickup if he's really good. And don't expect to pay him the same wage for 10 years without a raise, the cost of living goes up every year. And don't cut him if you have a bad year, it probably was not his fault and his living expenses go on no matter what. If you have a really good year, give him some of it. I've always been of the opinion that if you take care of your people, they will take care of you. | |
