| I would say our average cutting times are from 11:00 am to 8:15 pm. But, the real determinates are what tasks we have planed for the day and the weather.
Our ideal harvest happened two years ago. We had the right amount of acreage of certain varieties that would fill a grain bin everyday. For four days we followed a nice routine. In the morning we would setup the auger to the bin, service/fuel combines, and take one combine to the field for a sample. After confirming the sample was OK we would move the other combine and truck(s) out to the field to set the machines and cut a load. By then it was lunchtime. We would start unloading the truck and two guys would go eat while the third finished unloading. When the two were finished they would start cutting while the third could eat. By the time the third guy finished a truck was full. The day would continue with cutting, hauling, and snacking on candy bars until we ran out of that variety, which happened with about 30 minutes of daylight left. The next day we would do the routine over again. Of course, not having any breakdowns is what made it work. That was my most enjoyable harvest to this date.
