| By current standards, that is an acceptable fitup. In the last few years it isn't uncommon to have to heat shives to get them on, or they fall on because they are overbored. It's a function of off shore manufacturing, running the reamer well past it's life, or using a reamer that's close enough. Close enough and "cant see it from my house" have become the standard of acceptability.
If you can afford the time, clean the shaft, wet it with vinegar, and wait a day. Rust will make up for poor machining. | |
