Breckenridge, Michigan | Yes reman engines are still available, and very common. We just put a new GM crate engine in our 1994 GMC Topkick. FWIW its plenty powerful even with an automatic trans and a 16' box. Also our 1975 C-70 tandem has a 366 with a 5-2 spd and it too doesn't lack for power and it's got an 18' box on it. Very good, reliable engines IMO. From what I've heard the 427's weren't much more powerful but were a whole lot thirster for fuel. Also I've heard that the exhaust mainfolds location next the starter causes the starters to burn up prematurely, on the 427's that is. | |
