Downpressure seems to be ok.........the 12 rows are set up with the baskets on separate arms. This six row had not been used until we used it for the "experiment". Soil has been so loose this year that the problems have been throwing too much. If the soil is not loose enough, we run the rotary hoes ahead...............after the plants get taller, seems that the ground between rows is plenty loose. The blades on the sweeps are really for the beans.............we have nearly no trouble with weeds in the corn..................beans are entirely different matter, and especially this year with the slow emergence------friggin foxtail stayed right with the beans. This winter I'm going to try and take the time to put hydraulic motors on the baskets...........I think that would be the ultimate.............be able to creep along during the first pass, getting out there much ealier, and getting much closer sooner. Wouldn't need many rpms..........maybe 4-5 turns more than ground speed..........just enough to get churning effect. We foliar feed twice..........that is when we put on the additional neem/karanja. Until then the neem/karanja that goes into the trench seems to do pretty well. With the exception of one field of corn this spring that the cutworms took and had to be replanted, we have had no problems with insects. The fish oil does a good job.................we put on enough that I'm surprised the neighbors that complain about the litter in the fall don't complain about the fish smell in the spring. Your beans look really good...........can't tell from the pictures for sure, but the weeds do not appear to be in the row.......which is where our problem is, especially this year due to emergence problems.
