| Wasn't ready to cut wheat when the wheat got ready. Got the combine out, saw that a mouse had chewed on the variable speed cylinder belt on Deere 7700, hoped it would stay together and went to the field, about ten acres left today and belt broke. Set head on cart and headed home, about four miles, got home,(cussed mouse half way then cell phone for no signal until home) called dealer at quitting time for belt, came out of barn and combine smoking pretty good, started pulling covers and hosing things down. Got things under control luckily, started looking, bought this combine a year ago, completely rebuilt, the cylinder arrangment wasn't tight enough on the shaft. It worked to the side, started rubbing the side lightly and caught the straw on fire, now glad the belt broke, something to think about. | |
