Ethridge, TN | New fuel standards are calling for what is being referred to as "Ultra Low Sulfur" content diesel fuel. While you might still be able to currently get the little higher sulfur content fuel at this time, depending upon supplier and location, I doubt it'll last long. The refineries aren't going to make several different grades of diesel, as the from what I "understand", as they make the upgrades, the current content will disappear. We've gone thru this once already, in the last fuel standard change, which was when there was problems with older pump seals dieing because of the loss of the lubricating properties that the sulfur provided.
If they weren't trying to rape us here in Ohio, we would simply switch to biodiesel, which the "bio" side gives you the lubricity back. Current manufacture in Cincinnati is pocketing the $1.00 subsidy, as the soydiesel will cost us 10 to 50 cents "more" per gallon of fuel than straight diesel. They are blending 1% diesel at the Cincy location so that everything comes out of the plant at B99. This is not how it was supposed to work, but greed has gotten the best of the situation, and as per usual the government end has turned it's back to just allow it to happen.
