| We have just a straight lightbar on our sprayer & at times I wish I had auto steer. However, I didn't figure auto steer would help that much in rowed crops like corn when the planter tractor doesn't have auto steer. Most of our beans are no-tilled but even ten I can see the old cornstalk rows until after I have made the post spray pass. We run an 8row cornhead on our combine & the floater tires knock down the 2nd & 7th rows so that leaves a distinct marking to follow. On bean stubble, drilled beans or late spraying I can see the advantage but not on our 30" corn or 15" beans.
I would be most interested in autosteer for anhydrous application. I would think it would take long to pay for itself, especially with AA prices like they are. Another application that I see a benifit to would be fertilzer spreading.
Maybe I'm just set in my old ways. | |
