| Too many people look at how much fuel a tractor uses in a given time, say a normal working day. What they need to be looking at is how many acres did they go over in that time period & how many gals fuel they used doing it, (gal/ac instead of gal/hr). Iknow back when we were running red tractors I traded up from a 7120 to a 7240mfd & was really upset with how much fuel the 7240 used. The 7210 would run all day till quiting time on a tank of fuel & we would have to stop about 2 hrs before quitting time to fill the 7240. BTW, this was pulling the same piece of equipment. I complained to the salesman & he asked how many more acres was I covewring in a day with the 7240 compared to the 7220. When I realized what he was saying I saw that even though the 40 was using more fuel per day I was getting over a lot more acres with it & the gals/ac were actually less than what they were with the 20.
