We have a 1518 Deere. We bought it sight unseen and should have known better. It has been a good mower, but was rougher than what the salesman told us(and I think worse than even he expected after he rented it out). The only trouble we've had with it has been that the full length hinges eventually broke. What would happen is that having a full length shaft through the hinges just was binding too much and eventually twisted and broke. We had a local welding shop fix it by cutting off all the hinge points and welding in three seperate hinges for each wing. Cost about $800 total(400 per) to have done but it was done right with zerks etc.

Now we found out what the full length hinges were good for..........keeping the grass off the deck. Now clippings just FLY up through the cracks and land on the deck. Will fix it with rubber flaps somehow. Sure like the looks of the new Deere mowers with the smooth top deck. Cleaning this one is a pain.
