I heard from a reliable source that Deere only offered the IVT because the prior transmission would not hold up to the 8530 horsepower. It doesn't benefit you in the field as advertised i.e. Fuel savings... Also have seen some really expensive rebuilds of the ILS front end. Just the rumors floating around...
