Bottle calves get starter about day 3 and fresh every day (old stuff goes to older weaned calves).

We keep adding starter as long as they clean it up and wean onto bunks in groups. They get as much as they'll clean up with a little leftovers twice a day. Then on to stuffers after a few weeks.

Stuffers are my preferred method of feeding Holsteins and dairy/beef crosses, but I think I get better intake by "reading" bunks with the little guys; fresher feed that the other critters haven't messed in.

I have a couple of Behlen creep feeders as the first self feeders they see, and even then fill with buckets to keep the contents a bit fresher.

Then on to the Smidley's at 450-500 lbs
