This is fairly common for us long ago. The exact diluter gene(s) status driving this is unknown to me. Back then I had a group of 5/8 Angus-3/8 Char cows. Bed registered Angus bulls, got many black calves.
Black dominant to red but diluter(white-ish) dominant to any color.
