| Had a Second calf heifer calve out a 60lb bull calf, licked clean but it hadn't sucked, brought her into the barn and a screw came loose, she went absolutely ****ing crazy. She had been a puppy dog up until she calved, turned into a man eater, day two and calf still hasn't sucked her down, he's had colostrum and been bottle fed. He's getting up but she's pacing constantly and not giving him the opportunity to let him drink. I know the obvious answer is ship her, but She was a great momma last year, I've heard many times about romping cows and letting the calf suck her down, is it worth trying or is it a lost cause? If she was Romped and the calf sucked her down what are the odds she will calm back down and start mothering again? She was right there the whole time and followed the calf into the barn. I assumed she was just worked up due to being alone in the barn, but it seems she's not calming down after 48 Hours. In my opinion there's not a cow in the world worth getting hurt over, I'm leaning towards a trip to the sale barn. Thoughts??? | |
