I think one of the reasons besides the price of real A5 wagyu, is portion size. Most people can eat a 12 to 20oz choice or prime ribeye and be satisfied. But if you eat a 16oz A5 ribeye, you're probably going to get the runny poops from so much fat. So I think Americans are just used to eating larger portions and love the full belly of a good steak dinner or primerib dinner.


Wagyu seems to be a better experience for most eaten in smaller portions like the Japanese serve it.


The 1/2 and 1/2 American Wagyu is really about as far as I can go for marbling, and not get the squirts from eating our normal larger portions. And really , as long as it's tender, i'm really more of a beef flavor guy, and pretty darned happy with sirloin out of the right critter. As well as skirt or flank cooked right.
