Fix the old kenmore for pennies and live happily ever after, the gold standard is already in your possession.
My opinion is predecated on the fact that in IL we pay to be rid of water, efficiency standards do not help when you send excess water down the tile either way. If water is expensive in your area a newer machine might be best.
